The Stidham stable has been red-hot this season at Delaware Park, and the fine run of form continued this week, thanks to a pleasing return to the winner's circle for Central Avenue.
Godolphin's homebred was always near the pace under a confident Julio Hernandez ride, vying for the lead at the top of the stretch before drawing clear to win by 1 and 3/4 lengths.
Central Avenue was a star 2-year-old. In three runs, she broke her maiden before finishing second in the G1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont and then third in the G2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs.
This four-year-old daughter of Street Sense had only the two runs her sophomore year. But she clearly retains plenty of ability, and this run sets her back on the right path forward.
