It's been a big few days for the stable, topped off by Tom's Magic's (pictured above) fantastic second place finish in the G1 Hollywood Derby at Del Mar yesterday.
Given a positive, pace-stalking ride by Antonio Fresu, Tom's Magic was delivered with a furlong to run, charging like a would-be winner but denied first place by a neck by Chad Brown's fast-improving young colt, Salamis.
Owned in a partnership between CJ Thoroughbrds and Mo Speed Racing, Tom's Magic has been a real revelation this year, three stake wins interspersed with a magnificent second place finish in the King's Plate. And now he's G1 placed!
And now to the two wins earlier in the week.
On Thursday at Fair Grounds, Godolphin's Beekman Street gained his first career victory in determined fashion, holding off a couple foes to prevail by a half-length under Mitchell Murrill. A few races later on the same card, Speedway Stables' well-named Epic Style notched her second career victory with a resounding three-length win in a competitive-looking allowance.
This 3-year-old daughter of Good Magic is a filly with a ton of talent brought on with a lot of patience, and it'll be exciting to see where she goes next now her confidence is sky high.
