Epic Win!

Speedway Stables' Epic Style (pictured) made a trip across the Northern border a winning one with a stylish victory in the $125,000 Sweet Briar Too Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.

Settled nearer last than first out the gates by jockey Pietro Moran, Epic Style was funnelled into contention coming out of the turn, sticking to her guns in fine fashion down the stretch to win by a rather cozy length and 1/4.

“We’re incredibly lucky to be working with her. If anybody saw her in the paddock, she doesn’t even need a lip chain,” said assistant Trainer Parker Hendriks, after the race. “She just walks around totally classy, super relaxed. ​ She’s a real pleasure to train every day.” ​

While Epic Style has form over further, the 6 1/2 furlongs of the Sweet Briar Too Stakes appears to be a "sweet spot" distance wise for her.

This was Epic Style's second shot at Black Type, and comes off the back of a valuable win at Kentucky Downs last month.

This four-year-old daughter of Good Magic (out of the stakes-winning Final Mesa) has now won four of her 13 starts, winning over $311k in prize money. Saturday's win makes her a very valuable broodmare prospect indeed.
