It's King's Plate weekend at Woodbine, and the Stidham stable is barrelling into the event with one of the leading lights for this $1 million contest, run over one and 1/4th miles.
Tom's Magic is a 5-1 shot on the Morning Line for Saturday's headliner race for three-year-olds, which is, as always, hotly-contested.
An impressive winner last-time-out of the Tale of the Cat Stakes at Monmouth Park, Tom's Magic has been ear-marked for the King's Plate for quite some time. This son of Justify is drawn 11 of 13 with Rafael Hernandez on board, and he couldn't be going into it in any better form.
Tom's Magic isn't the stable's only big race runner over the weekend. On Sunday, the two-year-old filly Fond of You is making an exciting step up in class in the $100,000 Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park.
An eye-catching winner on her debut, Fond of You is drawn 3 of 6 in Sunday's one-mile event. This daughter of Street Sense has the services of Francisco Arrieta on board.
Before we take a look at the rest of the weekend entries, let's look back over a nice winner for the barn today, courtesy of DARRS Inc's Hold Up, who did the business in fine fashion at Colonial Downs.
Given a confident ride by Paco Lopez, Hold Up eased into the home stretch and pulled away in the sort of style to suggest there's more to come.
