Stylishly Epic!

Speedway Stables' Epic Style, who has proved a revelation this summer for the stable, did the honors once again this past weekend, with a heart-in-your-mouth victory at Belmont Park in the $175,000 Perfect Sting Stakes.
Epic Style (pictured) didn't get the best of starts in this seven furlong contest on the turf, but jockey Antonio Fresu didn't panic, carefully guided her into contention around the turn before striking for home and just prevailing by a head at the wire.
“We’ve finally figured her out; she’s got that sweet spot between six and seven furlongs, she’s got that huge turn of foot,” Stidham said. “That’s the difference, getting her at the distance that she’s really, really comfortable. She’s really a big-hearted filly and goes out there and lays it down for you.”
“I've watched her races and she always comes from off the pace,” Fresu said afterwards. “I was a little bit worried that the pace wasn't extremely fast today. It's really hard to make up ground from the back. It wasn't a really fast pace, but she settled well and at the three-eighths she started coming alive."
This four-year-old daughter of Good Magic is on a roll at the moment, beginning with a fine win during Kentucky Downs' lucrative meet at the end of summer, following by a win in the Sweet Briar Stakes at Woodbine and now this latest victory.
What a servant she's been to connections, and there looks like plenty more to come!
Over at Penn National the same day, Walmac Farm's Twombly made a debut run a winning one, breaking sharply under Angel Rodriguez and staying close to the pace throughout, ultimately prevailing by a length.
This three-year-old daughter of Practical Joke is extremely well-bred, being the granddaughter of the GI Italian Oaks winning wonder mare, Meridiana. This makes Twombly a tremendously valuable broodmare proposition indeed.
