Speedway Stables' In Theory (pictured above) made her seasonal (and stable) debut a winning one when running away with a tidy little allowance optional claimer Thursday at Delaware Park.
Ridden positively by Julio Hernandez, In Theory was always at the head of affairs before slowly drawing clear of the field from the top of the stretch to win by nearly six lengths at the wire.
This four-year-old daughter of Mendelssohn was an expensive yearling purchase. Still lightly raced (this was only her fifth career start), In Theory showed more than enough yesterday to suggest that bigger days lie ahead, and this eye-catching victory puts her on great stead for the second half of the season.
