Zimmer Zooms to Next Win!

The Stidham stable is in raring form at present, as evinced by a couple eye-catching victories this past week.

Yesterday at Churchill Downs, the hugely exciting Godolphin colt Zimmer made it two-for-two with a resounding win in what had looked a competitive looking Allowance.

Though Zimmer didn't get the best of starts, jockey Tyler Gaffalione soon rousted the colt into the lead, and there they stayed, ultimately passing the post just over two lengths too good.

This three-year-old son of Maclean's Music only made his racecourse debut last month, when running away with a maiden special weight at Belmont Park. This was another step up, and boy, doesn't this colt look like a horse to watch.

At Laurel Park last Friday, Battle Born Racing Stable and William Branch's Drink This Cup notched a fourth career victory with a lovely performance under Jose Batista.

This daughter of Stay Thirsty enjoyed a similar trip to Zimmer, initially a little tardy away, only to get sent to the lead, there to remain. This fantastic four-year-old has proven a really smart purchase ($15,000 breeze-up buy), and a great credit to connections.

At Belmont Park tomorrow, Amalfi Drive is drawn 2 of 6 in the $175,000 Pumpkin Pie Stakes, over seven furlongs.

Antonio Fresu takes the mount on this 10-1 shot on the Morning Line. Amalfi Drive has been knocking on the door in races like this (she was second in the Obeah Stakes at Delaware Park in June), and it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see her get close once again, at the very least.
